Here's a little trip to Skamokawa, WA. For starters, it is pronounced Ska-mok-a-way. People have a tough time with that. It's tiny village, in fact, there is one website that calls it a semi-ghost town. Your photos are gorgeous, I look forward to coming back to them when things aren't a million miles an hour here, but that last picture- the heights up the wall- made me stop in my tracks. First, fond and sort of amused as we have something similar that spans 5 generations at my aunt's house but then I was crushed in thinking that the families moved away and left it behind, like any common board. Can you have things from that house? I feel like there should be a great beautiful album for all those forgotten faces in photos and maybe a sentimental although anonymous place for things such as these.

I do know where the woman who lived here works (small county) and I plan on removing the board and asking her if she wants it. (I can help with the demo as much as I want.)

i think your little town looks gorgeous and love the fact that the town center serves so many purposes
and that last photo is beautiful in kind of a sad way - the heights up the wall, the mix of floor and wall finishes - pity that it will soon be gone

About the house, there is so much soul to it. If it weren't for the floors that cave in when you walk on them, I could see squatting there...
