You don't want a visit from your local FD!  Our CO detector went off tonight. it was 28.

Fortunately they just aired out the house and we're back in. At 28 degrees it too darn cold to stay out for long.  Long story short - wet wood doesn't burn at all well and in fact, will smolder.

Wow! I'm back. Very interesting - kept our power - thank god! The really big 50 ft maple tree dropped quite a few branches including a fifteen footer on our front steps. Our cable line / broad band took one for the family as a branch landed on it, but somehow it snapped but the electricity and the land line stayed up ( Read more... )

Some of you know that I live near west Point, NY. It looks like I will be losing power and internet shortly due to the snow. We've already lost quite a few branches and there's one branch that will be taking down power, etc in a few. hopefully the big trees stay up.
