You should tell your boss that you need the day off because you've contracted a virus that is only circulating through small under-developed third world countries. Just to put the icing on the cake, you can take a red marker and draw spots all over your body. See what he says and report back.

well that would definitely be one approach. but it's a slow week, so i said "i need wednesday off." and he said "ok."

but i'll keep your suggestion in mind.
