Report 007 [Action] | Forward-dated to a more sane time on the 16th

Apr 15, 2011 23:57

[Well, the weather has finally turned into something more palatable for turtles after a few days of inordinate coldness for April, and Don has been quite enthusiastic about getting Robert out of his apartment for something resembling actual exercise, and to go see the blossoming cherry trees (even if they might see them again tomorrow). And for ( Read more... )

[Smoker's out getting exercise as well, but mostly because this is normal for him.]

Donatello. [Nods head in greeting, though he can't place the other one yet, so there's just a glance instead of actually saying hello. He's not that polite.]

Smoker. [He hasn't seen you in person since the fall.] Nice day.

[Robert glances up awkwardly from where he's pretty much attached to Don's upper arm. This isn't a person he recognizes, but Don seems to know him.

He offers Smoker an uncomfortable half-smile.] Ah, forgive me. I don't believe we have met prior to this.

[Even as he speaks he's kind of drawing himself a little closer to Don, almost subconsciously, anxiety driving him to crave the safety of his boyfriend's contact.]

... I am Professor Robert Alexander Hastings.

[ Helios will actually be practicing his magic today, this is a feat, since he's been pretty slack over the entire month. So if you hear random cracks and see a flash of light from the sky don't mind it, just your standard lightning spell of the filial variety. They might both catch it on their way to Cherry Blossom Hill, mainly because spell practicing is dangerous and Helios rather not cause undue damage to anything. You can probably sneak up on him since he's taking a break, wiping a small amount of sweat off his brow before starting up again. ]

[Not noticing a spontaneous lightning storm? Robert is far too observant for that. Even if he's a little tired from making it across most of the village at that point, that's still enough to instantly draw his attention. And of course that draws Robert's attention over to the magician headmaster himself.]

Ah, Helios... ...are you causing that electrical activity? [He still needs to get used to the idea of magic entirely. But at least this assumption is now an easier one to make.]

[Don watches, fascinated. He's under the impression that lightning magic is a more difficult one to master.]

[ Helios will turn as he hears that voice. ] Ah! Robert, Don, enjoying the weather are we? [ Might be some crackling electricity in his hand before his closes it and shakes it off, sheepish grin on his face. ]

Yes it was me. Um, the filial spirit, Tsinku. I hope I didn't startle you. I was...practicing.

[Giles, still a bit battered from his fight with Derek, is sitting by the fountain. He's resting with his arms folded on the worn stone and staring into the water. The water is swirling and twisting strangely, occasionally forming little eddies, and as Giles frowns in apparent frustration an almighty splash explodes forth, spraying nearby villagers. He sits back with a sigh, taking off his glasses to wipe the water off.]

Damn.

[Robert, near enough with Don to be within the range but not so near as to have disturbed Giles, takes some of this spray more or less to the face. He sputters a bit and wipes it off with one hand, notably without removing his glasses.]

... Well, I suppose there's no harm done. It is simply water, and... [Now he notices Giles.] Ah, Mr. Giles...?

[Don looks strangely delighted to find himself suddenly wet. Less so when he sees Giles looking so worse-for-the-wear.]

What happened...?

[Giles finally succeeds in drying his glasses and slips them back on his face.]

Oh, um, Robert. Hello.

And...Donatello, wasn't it? Good Lord, it has been a while.

[He sits back on the fountain again, this time facing the both of them.]

Sorry. That was Sona, I'm afraid.

She still doesn't like me much.

[ Lightning is looking particularly worn today as she's walking home from the north, her gunblade hanging behind her as always-- alongside a new belt of short throwing knives... something that would be around her waist if she wasn't busy trying to sort out and re-buckle it comfortably.

... An act that obviously fails when it slips out of tired hands and... well, she's apparently reached the level where, instead of even trying to catch the weapons, she just lets them fall and stands there for a long moment, staring downward with a flat expression. Then, mismatched wings twitching in annoyance, she bends to pick them up... and spots the pair in her compulsory look around as she crouches down. That really isn't something you see every day, is it? ]

[Robert doesn't notice that familiar taciturn stare trained on him until his gaze swivels enough to notice the strikingly-asymmetrical wings and the familiar pink hair. And the familiar giant weapon.

He's instantly anxious. Even if he has now seen presumably worse, Lightning still instills some fear in him, the same kind of faint-echoes-of-primal-terror that he feels around Raph, that he felt - even more intensely - when he stared down the length of Yuber's blade pressed to his stomach.

Instinctively, anxiously, the scientist curls a little closer to the turtle, silently entreating him to protect him even if Lightning isn't really a threat.]

[Robert, your fearful clinginess is starting to border on annoying. Don half-drags you a few steps closer to the nice-looking girl with the weapons.]

Nice knives. Do you throw?

[ After a moment, the former soldier finally drags her gaze downward, chastising herself over the fact that really, she's probably seen much stranger in her five months trapped within Luceti. She checks the knives automatically as she speaks- ]

More or less. I've been learning.

[Jack has been fastidiously avoiding the village for days, now. He finally made the difficult decision to abandon his efforts with the boat to return to Good Spirits for some rum, and now might be found seated outside the front door of that fine establishment, completely potted. Life's easier this way, sometimes.]

[Is that Jack?]

[Is he drunk?]

[Don quietly steers Robert the long way around the plaza. No pirates are going to ruin their walk today.]

[Robert can't help but do something of a double-take when he notices Jack Sparrow. He's never seen this person before, but zie... well, doesn't look in the best shape.

Clearly completely inebriated, as well. Robert recognizes the physical symptoms; he's seen them on himself more than enough.

It almost makes him feel bad.]

[Drink drinkity drink drink WELL that looks like Sad Turtle, there, crossing the plaza! Jack raises an arm in greeting.] Oi! Sad turtle! Hallo, mate---been quite a while, hasn't it. Is your brother still angry, then?
