Your nanocomputer? I'd love to see what it can do if it's no trouble.

[Robert pens his response easily for Litchi; he's thrilled she responded, actually, and she might catch his small smile over the video in the dim room.]

I would have no aversion whatsoever to you seeing my nanocomputer, Doctor Faye-Ling. In fact, I would be thrilled to demonstrate it to you.

Excellent! I have to admit, it's been quite some time since I saw anything of quite that level of technology, so it will be a bit refreshing.

I'm glad the Malnosso granted it to you.

I concur entirely. I hope that there are others here in Luceti who feel similarly...

[Robert pauses before writing a response to the next part. Thinking about the Malnosso in general still makes him angry with how cruelly they treated Raph...]

Yes, that is one good thing they have done. But it does not excuse their most recent atrocity.

[It takes Adell a moment before he starts speaking. More bad news to deliver. Just. More of it. Perfect. He'd been out working all day on prep work for the concert to get away from exactly this kind of thing. But, it's just something he can't avoid, it seems. When his voice does come, it's kind of heavy and tired, both from working all day and the weight of the news. But he's not gonna beat around the bush. He's dealt with this stuff too much the past few months.]

Yeah. There's... a good reason for that. I'm sorry... Vivi was sent home.

(OoC: Nope, you got everyone. In fact, more than everyone, Sylvia actually dropped last week. XD )

[... No.

No.

No no no no no... It can't be. It can't be my daughter...

At first Robert can't say anything at all. He's completely silent, paralyzed by the pain of... this. It's one of his worst fears realized - someone he has grown to love, to care about deeply, to want and perhaps even need in his life... being wrenched away, all in an instant.

This is why you shouldn't get close to people, Robert.

He doesn't even know this person, but he can't stop himself from sobbing openly; brokenly. His voice is low and thick with pain when he responds.]

...

Y-You're... you're c-certain...?

...

Oh gods, why...[He manages to choke out, softly:] Th-thank you... f-for... f-for t-telling me ( ... )

[Voice/Filtered] | Yeah, probably a good idea. vulcanblazer May 19 2011, 01:11:37 UTC
[Adell doesn't mind open displays of emotion. As a man of passionate and strong emotion himself, he doesn't really find this wrong, or even that unusual. Though he himself doesn't normally break down as openly as this, he knows he feels a lot of pain, so he won't bat an eye at it, though there is a deep amount of empathy he has for it.]

...I'm certain. ...And I'm really sorry. [He feels powerless over the communication line. Being there physically would be easier. But either way, he'll patiently wait until Robert has relaxed a bit.]

You gonna be all right?

[He actually does sound concerned. People being sent home is brutal. He knows that too well.]

(OoC: Nope, that's news to me. Thanks for pointing that out, he'll get to that soon.)

[Robert, if he could tell this, would be grateful. He doesn't have the same kind of taboos around expressing emotions that a lot of people have - well, at least expressing emotions that aren't anger - and having them empathized with helps.

He draws in a shuddering breath, trying to ground himself as he lightly knits his fingers before bringing a shaking hand to his hair, coiling his fingers in it.]

... I...

... I-It... is not your fault, I... I just... [Pathetically:] M-My daughter...

[He doesn't know if this person knows the real extent of how he felt for Vivi, how close he was - at least comparitively - with her... and this is the worst time to announce it.]

...

I... I... I don't know.

[He wants to curl up and die, really. Or hide away and never come out again. Neither of those things would be helpful, but they would maybe ease some of this pain.]

[There's the quietest of taps on the room door. Robert might miss it if he's distracted. It;s shortly later when the doors quietly opened, and Leo pokes his head in, checking if anybody's awake.]

[Robert is indeed awake, and just fielding queries right now most likely. That Adell thread's gonna happen later. He looks up questioningly at Leo when he enters, giving him a slightly-timid beckoning gesture.

In a very small, soft voice, he greets:] Ah... hello, Leonardo.

Thought you might be thirsty.

[He says softly in return. He pushes the door open more, and steps into the room. He's balancing a tray with a tea kettle and cups in one hand, and uses the other to close the door.]

[Robert is almost tempted to get up and assist him, because it looks like a rather precarious balancing act, all things considered. Still, Leonardo is a ninja, and Robert is slowly coming to appreciate that "ninja" tends to mean "adroitness", so he doesn't try to get up. Besides, one (1) turtle is still firmly fastened to his waist.]

Thank you... I appreciate it.

[He was, in fact, starting to become thirsty - and one thing Robert picked up from Helios and Ami is the definite attachment to tea as a calming, soothing thing.]

So that's the infamous nanocomputer. There's no rush on the demonstration, but you already know you can count me in on seeing its capabilities.

Is everything alright over there?

I am glad, Mr. Mulder. You were one of the people I wanted to have present for its demonstration.

[He pauses hesitantly. How much can he say to Mulder...? Though Mulder does know Don.]

... At the moment, yes. Everything is stable. Comparitively.

The situation will take quite some time to resolve, however. [Because cutting a hole open in somebody's plastron and then putting the piece back is not something that'll just heal up in a day.]

Good, when you're ready just let me know when and where, and I'll be there.

[He notices the hesitation and considers that a bit.]

Only 'comparitively' stable? Did the Malnosso abduct and return someone?

[As with Litchi, Robert hesitates and carefully filters this beforehand. It might be good for Mulder to know this...]

Don's brother was kidnapped for three weeks, and just returned recently. The Malnosso did something absolutely despicable to him.

[He pauses to collect himself, before he writes with a distinctly shakier hand:]

Vivisection.

It will be awhile before he makes a full recovery, for obvious reasons. But his condition at the moment is stable, as far as we can tell.

[Not just a computer, a computer from the future! And Daisy probably has a very good view of it in the video screen... well, as good a view as one can get in a dim room.]

I would be honoured to have someone from a similarly-technological world peruse my nanocomputer's functionality, Ms. Daisy.

[Robert might even be able to understand some of those reasonings.]

[2332 A.D., here. So Daisy is even further in the future than Robert is - though, of course, that's somewhat relative.]

Holodecks? I have heard of applications of similar concepts with Terran technology, but I am not certain how widely-used or practical they are.

My particular nanocomputer is... admittedly not very powerful. It is only a standard-issue unit, made for scientific studies by the Head Institute of Terra. It is fitted with instrumentation for analyses done in both the laboratory and in the field.

I did not wish to push my luck with the Malnosso. They were uncomfortable enough giving this to me as it was.

[The mun needs more specific data for this, seriously. Though he isn't even sure where to start...

And Robert would be curious as to what other possibilities Daisy sees in his nanocomputer.]
