Gatorade

Apparently Gatorade is now kosher. I'm not sure when that happened; I don't think it was the case in fall 2008 when I had mono (and consumed copious amounts of Powerade). I think I like Powerade better, but the vending machine at Simmons has Gatorade (and I drank through the last of my Powerades yesterday). I was going to get a Powerade at CVS but ( Read more... )

Gatorade became kosher while I was in Israel. So did tootsie rolls. It was weird to come back and see both at camp before I'd become aware of this.

Also, you probably know this, but purple gatorade still isn't kosher (I think because of grape juice).

I actually didn't know that, but it makes sense. The vending machine at Simmons only has red and yellow.

Also I didn't know about the tootsie rolls. Wow.

Funny story about that... So my cousin works at Pepsi, and along with another co-worker, he lobbied for kosher Gatorade. Happened like a year and a half, two years ago. I mentioned to him that we had a whole lot of it at camp, and he informed me that it is indeed the grape juice that makes the purple Gatorade not kosher. [At which point I told my boss, and we got rid of the unkosher Gatorade in the shack.]

Also, it's cheaper at Target, and worth stocking up on.
