  • Year end survey!

    senormo Dec 30, 2008 11:28

I think I've actually written a bit more this year than last...go me!

    1. What did you do in 2008 that you'd never done before?
I had a car accident. That was new and exciting. I also found out that my insurance is pretty good because of said accident. I'm drawing a blank on anything else...

    2. Did you keep your new years' resolutions, and will ( Read more... )

  • NOW I'm done

    senormo Dec 23, 2008 13:20

I don't count the official start of Christmas break until I'm done grading. I finished yesterday (after spending roughly four hours grading atrocious Odyssey persuasive essays) and just posted my grades for the semester. Now I can begin enjoying my Christmas break. Well, after I wrap presents. I hate wrapping presents. My goal is to put as ( Read more... )

  • I mostly just don't want to do work...

So...books! (See previous 2 entries if you're totally interested in my current frame of mind...this is more interesting)

"These are the top 106 books most often marked as "unread" by LibraryThing's users. As in, they sit on the shelf to make you look smart or well-rounded. Bold the ones you've read, underline the ones you read for school, ( Read more... )

I'd really love to have a Buffy quote to go there...but as I can't think of one, and it's actually been a reeeeeally long time since I've watched Buffy, I'll have to settle for Pink. It's fitting.

Texting is not an acceptable substitute for actual communication

This graduate class is conspiring to make me lose my mind. I have yet to figure out if my professor is one of those people who is too smart for her own good, or just deceptively smart and actually kind of dim-witted. Also, I despise psychoanalysis and everything it stands for. I want to find Freud's grave and spit on it. Lacan's too. I'm not ( Read more... )

  • Mystery solved.

Okay, so this: http://www.newsweek.com/id/156372 completely explains why I am still single. It's an article from Newsweek (I'm not sure if it's the most recent issue or the one before that) which I read at Adam's the other night, and yes, I just wasted time searching the Newsweek ( Read more... )

Can I just say that it still amazes me that I cannot get to Wikipedia, but I can get to Livejournal? What sense does that make? Freaking firewalls...

So I've been wracking my brain, trying to come up with an alternate career for myself. And coming up empty. Which leads me to believe that perhaps my current discontent with teaching is not so much ( Read more... )

  • On life & teaching

    senormo Aug 29, 2008 09:51

I have no cute Buffy quote...

I've realized that I can't teach forever -- I mean, if I wanted to, I'm sure I could stay here until I'm ready to retire (provided I don't murder any students), but I don't want to teach forever. The problem is, I can't imagine doing anything else. I love my job -- I love the people I work with (which is really half ( Read more... )

  • So...

    senormo Jul 31, 2008 22:34

My gynecologist finally talked me into getting the HPV vaccine a couple of weeks ago. She's been pushing it for...at least the last couple of years, but I'm not a big fan of shots. I caved this time because I'm always having irregular test results, which in turn leads to super-fun (by which I mean invasive and painful) biopsies, which in turn ( Read more... )
