Ever since my family moved to San Jose (and about the same time we had our first child) there has been a never-ending stream of disease hitting our household. If it's not me, it's my son. If it's not him, it's my wife. If it's not her, it's my father-in-law. These diseases range from the common cold to my latest hospital trip.

Hell week
Last week I was hospitalized for Diverticulitis, a lovely condition in which small pockets in my intestines became infected, leading to a peforation in my intestinal wall.
I'm better, but I can't eat seeds, nuts or popcorn anymore. -
In other words...
Today I misread something on the side of a box. What I read will come to revolutionize the English Language and Slang as we know it.
I've turned this misreading into a multi-purpose phrase that sounds cool no matter how you say it:
"Kickin' The Pickle"
It can be said as something cool:
That's "pickle kickin' hot!"
or "Boy, that kicks the pickle!"

Stormy weather, friends forever
I was walking to work from CalTrain and there was a stretch on New Montgomery which is a wind tunnel on normal days. Today, I had a really hard time crossing Minna street, walking into the wind. Of Holidaze and overused Cliches
As I sit here typing, my son stands, screaming in his crib, protesting bedtime. This is not a new occurrence, and it is definitely unpleasant. It's not the screaming and the tears, it's just that it goes on. And on. He's absolutely hysterical that we are not in the room with him ( Read more... ) -
Of Hospitals and baby speech
Stacey is back home from ye olde hospital. The surgery was a success, and the tumor is off to biopsy. There is the slimmest marginal chance that it may be cancerous, but all signs point towards "not bloody likely". Our friend Joy's operation was also a success, and they removed her left ovary along with a "bunch" of tumors(they said it looked ( Read more... ) -
It's gonna be a busy week!
This will be the last week of the fall semester, so I have non-stop appointments until friday. Unfortunately, I won't be there as my wife is having surgery on Thursday. THEN, a good friend of ours who is 17 weeks pregnant is going in for surgery on WEDNESDAY to have a bunch of ovarian masses removed. They are not sure if they are cancerous or ( Read more... ) -
Max and Daddy
My son cracks me up. He saw a TV special on Marching Bands and now, when he runs, he stops every few feet to march. His personality is really starting to bloom, and he is definitely a willful toddler. Or Toddlet, I guess. When he gets up in the morning, he runs into the kitchen and tries to climb up to the cabinet where we keep the cookies. ( Read more... )
