Once I had moved out of my  mother's house, I never again lived with someone who's response to running out of toilet paper was to go out and get more toilet paper. Hmmmm... well, there's cloth and disposable diapers... Cloth and disposable toilet paper should work the same way. :) Just install a diaper pail in your bathroom and do a load when is full. Although, admittedly, I suspect that that Would Not Be a Fun Job, you'll never run out of toilet paper again. :)

I would always separate the plys of the paper towels to "go the distance" on my light duty jobs.
