In the beginning there was nothing.
And out of nothing, there came nothing.
And nothing happened.

The ultimate reality show for the modern age: Adapt or be eliminated from the gene pool of the universe. Each episode, the civilisation that you - the voters - deem to be the least perfect will be eliminated.
How perplexing!
And so, out of nothing, and Dramatic Introduction Music, and Reality TV,
came the turtles.
[VERY DRAMATIC MUSIC!!!]
Three episodes in, however, it was discovered that the turtles were cheating.
They were using their superior intelligence to infiltrate the worlds of more primitive contestants.
Infiltration of other contestants is against the rules.
Hence:
Turtle Elimination.
Beware the Turtles.
