Maybe it's the vents thing. I saw Cloverfield with Kim the other night (figured if we couldn't see it with you guys, we could at least discuss it with you all later!) and I utterly loved those red gas-filled bubbly red things that inflated from the alien's "ear" areas. Kim was convinced that they were silly and useless; but I reckon they may have been a communication system: "OH HAI I RAVAGE UR CITY".

The point G. & I both asked afterwards, though: Why do alien lizards get off on ravaging human cities? Apart from a girt big fantasy trope, where's the logic? And why didn't it go for the bridges first, if it was a 'decimate population' thing?

btw, I know i have seen bubbly red things inflating/deflating on some Earth-native animal & I'm trying to work out which one. If you recall, let me know eh?
