"They’d been going against the grain for so long, trying to force something that had twice ended. First when he lost his soul and second when she sent him to Hell." Post Angelus Bangel in a nutshell! So very on the money. Prior to Angelus it had that first love-teen angst thing going for it that was great for what it was but it was never soul-mate life long love (and it came from out of the blue too....just the episodes prior to her pronouncing herself in love with Angel she was trying to figure what boy to date "Never Kill a Boy On A First Date"!). This sums up the aftermath of Angelus and why I can not accept them together past that period.

“You’re the one with the mind of a fourteen-year-old girl.” ROFLMAO! How very Spike at times, at least pre S7! He got that way again on Angel too from time to time. Love that about him ( ... )

I'm glad my opinions of their relationship (B/A) struck a chord with you as well! He was dark and mysterious and she was a teenager dating a dark and mysterious and handsome older guy who turned into an ass and terrorized her friends, only to turn BACK into that awesome guy seconds before she had to kill him and send him to Hell. It just wasn't in the cards and really, Spike is the better choice, natch. ;)

I just imagine that Buffy (from this period) having been thrust into a claim wouldn't be too happy about it but having the knowledge that she does (Spike's past, emotions, etc.) she'd take a moment to stop and figure out the best alternative. If this came out disjointed, it's because my fiancee will NOT STOP ASKING ME QUESTIONS FROM ACROSS THE HOUSE, OH MY GOD. hahaha, oh <3.

Anyway, thanks for reading and I will have more very soon!

I gotta admit I'm not a fan of claiming (don't kill me!) but at least Buffy's having a realistic reaction here. She's never been one to just roll over and accept the yoke of prophecy. Also, you bring the funny. *g*

I would never kill someone for being honest! I tried to warn about it with the "bloodplay" tag in the warnings section, so I'm sorry if you got lured into a claim fic unawares! I kinda have a thing for them, but that's my kink.

I'm glad that despite your dislike of the claims that you found her reaction believable. I just can't see her shrugging and saying, "Oh well, let's have some sex!" hahaha. No way, no how.

Anyway, thanks for the review and I hope you continue to read!

Oh, it doesn't squick me or anything, I'm just a canon ho. My first main fandom (Elfquest) had telepathic mate-or-die soulbonds out the wazoo, so it's not like I object to the concept. I've just never been able to figure out why it's so popular in the Buffyverse (except that a lot of people have a kink for mate-or-die telepathic soulbonds. *g*)

Interesting Angel logic there and great way for him to get out of the way for total intense Spuffyness. YAY!

I can't wait to read about the 'date'. Awesome update hun.
