Okay, you have to eplain to me the rules, or the point of this because honestly, yours seems one of the few that are actually creative. It seems like some of the other people just baked a cake and then wrote the title on the front like with the PoA one...

Well, the PoA was done by a six year old, so I excuse the simplicity of that one. Some of them are play on words of the title like HP and the Half-Baked Blintz or Grapes of Math (which I thought was kind of cute despite it being fairly simplistic).

Basically, there are no rules. It's a benefit for 826 Seattle by Cook the Books (but not limited to Seattle, it is actually an International Event), and all entries are encouraged. There were five entries that were auctioned (I don't know how they chose them, but they were pre-determined before the piece was made; one of them was Lord of the Rings which was so simple I thought it was pathetic to be an auction piece). The rest were just on display. There was a fee to get in to view the pieces, and then at the end everyone walks around and eats/samples the work.

Okay. Well, yeah, considering a 6 year old made it, totally excusable. And I guess since its all for charity anyway. But geeze people, show some effot.

But geeze people, show some effort.

Yeah, I do agree that some people's entries were lacking. I was almost too embarrassed to bring mine in because it had so many construction problems and in my opinion looked a mess, but I couldn't imagine putting my name on some of the other entries. Not that I expect anyone there to have professional quality work, but if you're going to show something off that you made, at least make it something to be proud of.

Until I read your post about what was "wrong" I though it looked just perfect. And I still think it's amazing! You're really talented!

How fabulous! I'm sorry the graham gave you trouble. It looks great. I love the little path, and the tree stumps with the trees beyond. Incredibly creative, my dear. And what a great idea - edible books. :-D

I love your cake!!! You always know of and are involved with great and interesting projects. Now...to some corrections...those cupcakes are NOT Cookie Monster! They're Grover!--he's the monster at the end of the book! You must read that book if you haven't...it's a wonderful children's classic. OK, Grapes of Math is not only a wonderful play on words, but also the title of another great children's picture book about...what else? math! (ok, that's it from the sub and children's book seller!!) PS Come to sonorus!!!!!! :) PSS Did you see the Eat a Book pic on LC (awhile ago) that was made to look exactly like the new HP book?

Ooopps, it's been so long since I've watched Sesame Street or read that book, that I forgot it was Grover. I was a Cookie Monster fan as a kid (vs a Grover fan), and since I remembered having the book, I figured it must have been Cookie Monster.

Error is fixed.

I liked the Grapes of Math as well and was surprised to find out it was rice crispy treats inside (instead of the expected cake).

Wow, that's detailed. She must have used fondant. I've never used it myself, but it's great for detailed cakes like that.
