The world hardly needs more plot ideas, or "bunnies" as they are colloquially called, but since I very much doubt my capability to string more than three words together, I'll place the ideas here as opposed to failing them myself.

But I was thinking: what if her first reaction to a man twice her age expressing interest is disgust and contempt?
If he keeps calling on her - bugging her, etc - and after some rebuffs she makes an offhand comment of some ridiculous desire, and he promptly fulfill it? Sort of a Thomas Becket moment.
I could see Hermione, or rather an idealistic young woman, telling a suitor she doesn't like for her (or, rather, The Cause), because (i) he won't go away, and (ii) may as well get some use out of him.
