I saw the movie tonight.

It was awful.

Now, I'm not a fan of the last book. I thought the camping, interspersed with deus ex escapes from near-certain death, followed by a battle made epic only my the senseless killing of a number of characters, was terrible. But more to the point, how did it transition from "love is the purest/most powerful motivating force" to "everythings a-okay if done in the name of love"?

How many different kinds of fanfic are there? I'm not really sure - here are some incomplete thoughts on the subject:

• Emotional Projection (Fluff/Dark): The story tries to create certain emotions in the reader. Lots of romances fall into this category.

The most likely explanation for Harry Potter surviving the Killing Curse is that Lily *sacrificed* her life for his. In other words, Voldemort kept his word to Severus Snape, and tried to keep her alive - but in trying to kill Harry without first disposing of his mother, it ( Read more... )
