The more I think about this idea, the more I like it. I want to make it happen. So, as usual for one of my escapades, I'll begin with questions. I already asked who was in. So far Darkfurie and kaolyb have stepped up, and I have no doubt that the list will grow, so we'll leave that one open and ask two more questions. To wit ( Read more... )

I haven't done the research for the where yet, but I'll dive into it! As for when, I don't have a specific time in mind, but the further in the future, the easier it will be to plan financially and vacation timeally. I think a lot of the places in which we'll be interested will be in more northern latitudes, so sometime from mid spring to mid fall might be a good idea.

Crap, I forgot the "for how long" part! I think we should go for as long as we can manage! Realistically, that's probably somewhere between 10 days and two weeks. (If anyone thinks less time is more realistic, that's okay too.)

It's not really the traditional idea of 'celtic,' but my campus has a castle on it. If you wind up in Ireland in the next year and a half, I can point ya at some fantastic pubs (sites, I'm not so good at.)

Found you through Keri, in case you were wondering.

I was just doing some research and found out that celtics were even in Anatolia Turkey, where Casey's dad's company was... Hence Anatolia Minerals. But ideally, Ireland! Ireland! Ireland! Of course there's many more places... While doing some honeymoon research I came across the guided walking tours of Europe. One that sounded amazing was the Connemara & Galway Bay, w/ 5-8 miles a day, a different town every night, starting and ending in Shannon! Of course we could always just party in Shannon! :) Something different... Don't know if that's something people would be into... And the when... Whenever I'm not deployed or planning a wedding ;)
