Wisdom Teeth of Doom

Jul 30, 2009 20:54

I have to get my wisdom teeth removed. As of today's lengthy consultation with an oral surgeon, the extraction is planned for next Tuesday.

The problem is, my wisdom teeth don't appear to like the thought of eviction very much. Three out of the four I have to get yanked out of my skull are having complications, one of which is going to require ( Read more... )

Yeah, you don't want that jaw nostril!

My mom would definitely drive you home if she can, so please please do call her if you need a ride.

But I kinda DO want that jaw-nostril! It would make shooting peas out of my nose at the dinner table so much easier!

And I'm positive I can find a ride, I'm just not certain from whom yet. I don't wanna bother your mama :)

My mama isn't bothered by you! She likes you a lot. :) Just keep her in mind if you need help.

Things are always so complicated for you medically. Boo.

Eh, it's not so bad. At least all of my complications are fairly common ones.

It sounds like you'll had a more exciting consult than me! Was your consult lengthy in waiting or lengthy in figuring out how they were going to take those suckers out of your head?

Mine was so negligible that the surgeon stepped away from his patient he was in process with for about one minute, looked at my x-rays, saw my teeth were easy enough to remove with local anestetic and laughing gas, and set up an appointment with him NEXT MONTH when he's in that office again.

The consult was lengthy in figuring out how to get the suckers out of my head. I had to sit through a lovely video that detailed all of the horrible things that could possibly go wrong as well, and that took up some of the time.

Jeez, is he the only available surgeon that you can see?

He was the one that was referred to me by my insurance! Its frusturating that I was sent there. My impression of the place is that they are understaffed for the patient load they recieve. I have a childhood memory of the same place--I remember sitting in and waiting in their lobby for my mother when she had a particularly difficult root canal. My sister and I waited in that waiting room for HOURS and not a single word on her status, or what they were doing in there. I fretted that I had been abandoned, and worried about getting home. Very traumatizing waiting room indeed.

D: That's awful. Can't they refer you to someone else?!? Stomp your foot and cause a scene until they give you someone good, in an office that does not give you abandonment issues!!!

Oh dear... novocaine lip and jaw-nostril. Just imagine though, next time you had a runny nose, it would go right into our mouth... Oh, and i would definitely drive you home, but I am going to be in Arizona, sorry... I feel bad I can't help more, or see a drugged up Mindy.

I can totally do it if it's in the morning. I have to be at my internship at 2.
