I just came across Cereta's excellent post on men and rape by way of Coffeeandink's links and postThe first rule of abuse is that we don't name it. Though maybe instead of "happen to have that other chromosome," "live as women"? Or "have ever lived as women"? Hrm. I also don't want to exclude transmen who were socialized as women before coming out.

Good point.

There's also a lot to be said about the incidence of rape and straight up murder of transwomen as well. In many ways, I feel the violence directed against anyone who breaks the cis & hetero gender roles is intensified, because it threatens the very basis of division of the hierarchy.

Yes, definitely! And I feel the more "disposable" society sees you as, the less likely your voice is to be heard and the more likely you are to be threatened. Rape is a tool used by those in power to violently hurt and oppress people further, to mark people as disposable.

Thanks this is great. Agreed about it invisibilizing sexual violence that is committed against transpeople and against men and boys as well.
