So, the first "checky" was a big old fail... until I remembered that I HAD 1" black & white checkerboard fabric in a box, because I'd used it to make a bustle overskirt. That let me finish the first "fancy" tunic, which is the important one for right now

Your turning is confusing. You want 3 inches of trim. You want the edges to be black. YOu want the middle to have 1 inch blue and white squares.
If that is correct...Were you planning on threading for double turn double face? (don't panic, I think it will be easier for this pattern and I have skype and You tube is packed with videos. also I am home evenings).
my phone number is 724-602-8111.
also, if you get cards from Earthguild they are cheap and get shipped to you. Look up prices and compare to what you see when you shop. 100 cards should not cost more than 20 or so dollars or they should come with great sex. :)

I do not care if it's double faced. It's getting stitched down flat on the sleeves of a fighting tunic. Which is why I was not concerned about the floats across the back that would naturally occur with my original plan.
Oddly, card weaving, like visual studio debugging, seems to be one of the things I cannot pick up from a book....

do double turn double face. you will have reversible trim and no long floats. It is WAY easier than your original plan and hella faster to thread. You can do continuous threading and everything.
I am happy to help.
Can you learn from videos or do you need in person?
I can do skype. Just let me know.
