I appreciate the advice about how to warp up stuff, but my problem really was that I had already CUT 300 yards of string, all at unfortunately slightly varying lengths, knotted them, and now was trying to manage them. Neat.

BTW, A wide tooth comb can help untangle the mess on the ends when you go to advance the warp.

I understand the project sitting there thing.

I used a pick to comb out the strings initially. But until I built the loom, I had no decent control over the string or the cards. Now it's going along swimmingly. I should be done this entire project: weaving & applying to the tunic - by Sunday.

Don't forget to wash the trim in the washer in a lingerie bag and hang dry before you hand stitch it on the garment.

It will help with any shrinkage...even cotton shrinks and the hand stitching, especially if you just use a long floating running stitch will let it float on the garment and adjust as the garment is worn and washed.
