Summary: Rodney is allergic to citrus.

Lemonade.

Lime jello.

Lemon meringue pie.

He doesn't remember much. He was only three, according to his medical records. And what he does remember might actually be the chicken pox. He itched. All over his entire body. He's seen the pictures. Red, blotchy, ugly. His face puffed up. No breathing problems, but the doctor had made his parents learn how to use an Epi-pen, just in case next time was worse. His parents hadn't been happy. In their minds, it was easier simply to not let Rodney eat at other people's houses.

Lemon-poppy seed bread.

Chicken piccata.

Orange juice.

In grade three, Mickey Halverston was his best friend. Mickey had a microscope and bred goldfish. They were going to pool their allowances and buy a telescope. Mickey's birthday was in May, and he had invited Rodney to his birthday party. Rodney had jumped at the chance, but afterwards, his parents had said no. After all, who knew what Mickey's parents would be serving? When he'd told Mickey that he wouldn't be coming, Mickey had decided they weren't friends anymore.

Lemon drops.

Avgolemono soup.

Lemon sherbet.

In grade four, Sarah Lyder had let him have a bit of her fruit salad. Her mom used lemon juice to keep the apples from turning brown. Rodney'd gone first to the nurses office and then to the hospital. Sarah had gotten in trouble and never spoke to him again.

Furniture polish.

Lemon butter sauce.

Guacamole.

In grade six, he'd found out that, thanks to several accidental exposures, he would probably never outgrow his lemon allergy. That he'd always have to carry a kit with him. Just in case. He channeled his anger into his science project.

Tequila.

Fruit punch.

Ice water in restaurants.

Rodney learned that hospital food was always safe. They were always careful not to cross-contaminate, or to give someone the wrong meal. Restaurants were bad. Too often, the servers didn't know what was in the food. The fancy places, with their various sauces and marinades, were always the worst. He stuck to the fast food places and the chain restaurants. The food there was always the same, so there was no question about what he could eat. Drinks were to be avoided, at least of they came out of one of those soda fountain things. Too often, they weren't cleaned very well and included lemonade. No point in being stupid.

Marmalade.

Iced Tea.

Grilled fish.

A lot of the Atlantis personnel complained about the constant medical tests. Any food stuff they traded for had to be checked before the mess was allowed to use it. Rodney overheard one of the engineers say that if Beckett did one more skin test, she was going to bite him. And not in a fun way. Rodney didn't get it. He was happy to line up for the tests if it meant he didn't have to worry about what he ate. Heck, he was probably safer eating the food here in the Pegasus galaxy then he ever had been on Earth. It was a nice change.
