I start my new job Monday. They originally told me Wednesday, but I called to confirm some other information, and they told me about the change. so glad I called. -
Ugh
Got a possible job. Will find out in the next day or two. They have two concerns: My law degree-- they're worried I'll be looking to leave for a legal position and my time unemployed. Well, retraining takes time. Please keep your fingers crossed for me. I'm tired of this merry-go-round. -
Job searching is frustrating
Got turned down for a job on the grounds that I didn't meet the basic requirements -- four years in computer technology-related work or a computer-oriented degree and two years of of work. It's about how the author got into online dating and studied and worked the system to meet the exact kind of person she wanted to meet. Yeah, still no job. I just missed out on a position (a very close second), but that's okay. In fact, it was a bit of a relief. It makes my head hurt
I was debating someone on the new Lone Ranger movie. They tried to defend it, explaining that "Tonto tells the story the way he views it." No, he does not. Tonto doesn't actually exist. Suspension of disbelief when watching a movie is one thing, but if you want to debate these things on a meta-level, please leave it behind at the movie theatre.
