Summary: Part 13 of the
Sympathy for Eve series. When Rodney gets turned into a woman for a month, he decides to experiment, but little did he know it could have unforeseen consequences. Set somewhere in a nebulous third season after any cliffhanger-y stuff has been resolved.

Rodney paced their living room, fingers plucking at the material of his sarong.
Carson was late. Rodney could only think of one reason-- the test results had been bad. It still chafed a little that Carson thought he was so shallow as to not accept a Down's child. True, it wasn't ideal and Rodney would rather avoid it, but still...
Rodney paused in his pacing, his head tilting up as a thought occurred to him; he had no idea how Carson felt about it. He'd assumed with Carson's gentle and generous nature that his lover would be okay with the idea. Maybe Carson had assumed Rodney wouldn't want a Down's child because he himself wouldn't want one.
Rodney sank onto the sofa. He knew Carson wouldn't tell him what to do, wouldn't even indicate his feelings if he thought it would sway Rodney away from what he really wanted. But if Carson didn't want the baby...
He could feel little Johnny moving just then and curled up on the couch, hand clutching his abdomen protectively. He couldn't give him up now-- he'd heard his heartbeat, felt him move, named him, imagined him.
No matter how Carson felt.

"So, what are we watching tonight?" John asked as he slid into the seat across from Miko.
"First couple parts of Escaflowne," she answered.
"Huh. Isn't that kind of... school-girly?"
"It has fighting and giant mecha and airships. You will like it, Colonel."
"I'll take your word for it. And it's John, please." He grinned.
She smiled shyly and cast her eyes down to her plate. "John. Yes."

Carson sat in his office, rubbing at tear-reddened eyes. He had to get himself under control before going home to Rodney. His emotions were still too raw.
There was a gentle knock, and then Biro stuck her head through. "You still here, Carson? Thought you'd be home with your man by now."
"Sorry," Carson said, not sure what he was apologising for.
Biro raised her eyebrows. "You okay?"
Carson took a long breath. "Aye, I'm fine. Just give me a minute."

"I still don't see why I'm beholden to buy them gifts just because they were too idiotic to use protection," Kavanagh griped. "I thought they were supposed to be geniuses."
Simpson rolled her eyes. "Maybe they did use protection. It's not one hundred percent effective, you know. And, frankly, if you were turned into a woman, I'm not sure it would have occurred to you, either."
"It wouldn't have been an issue with me," Kavanagh answered.
"You wouldn't have wanted to experiment?" Radek asked.
"By myself, maybe. With another guy? No way in hell."
Radek shrugged. "I find the idea fascinating."
"You'd be willing to try it out if they release it for general experimentation?" Simpson asked.
"I would consider it," Radek answered. "Though I would perhaps prefer a woman go through the reversal with me, to compare notes."
"Ooo!" Simpson exclaimed. "I like that idea."
"Oh, God!" Kavanagh exclaimed. "You two are not flirting! Some of us are trying to eat here."
"Aw, you're just jealous," Simpson teased.
Kavanagh stared at her. "You're delusional, Simpson. And thanks to you two, I've completely lost what appetite I had for this slop." He stood and stalked off, quickly dumping his tray and leaving the cafeteria.
Radek and Simpson exchanged glances.
"I think he has feelings for you," Radek said.
Simpson considered her coffee. "Maybe."

"Carson?"
Carson spun quickly away from the balcony railing, taking in his lover standing in the doorway. "Rodney... I..."
Rodney clutched at his abdomen. "Is it that bad?"

"Okay," John said, "Allen's pretty cool, but Van's a hothead."
Miko giggled. "So, did you like?"
"Yeah, it was cool. How many more episodes are there?"
"Twenty-three."
"Cool. We'll have to make this a regular thing, then," he said.
She smiled. "That would be nice, yes."
"So tell me what plans we've made for the baby shower."

Carson dropped to his knees and embraced his lover, kissing his belly. "Johnny's fine. No Down's, love."
Rodney looked at his lover with bemusement. "No Down's? So why are you acting so upset?"
"I've spent the last two days trying to be supportive and open when, really, all I wanted was for the test results to come out negative. When they did... Well, you're right, love-- it's very shallow and I'm sorry."
"God! I... Carson, I didn't mean to insult you, I swear. I didn't think."
"It's only an insult because it's true. I just wanted everything to be perfect. I'm a geneticist, for God's sake. I know the odds."
"And if the results had come back positive for Down's and I went ahead with the pregnancy, would that have changed anything for you, really?" Rodney asked.
"I don't know."
"Would you not have helped with the baby?"
"No! I still would have helped."
"And you would still have married me?"
"Absolutely," Carson answered firmly.
"Then how is it shallow wanting the baby to be perfect? You think I don't? I'm hoping this child will be the next Einstein or maybe Beethoven."
"But you're a pessimist."
"I'd prefer to consider myself a realist. I know I wasn't an easy child to raise. I expect I'll get the kid I deserve."
Carson chuckled. "Karma, Rodney?"
"Something like that, even if it is superstitious. I'm just hoping you were a sweeter child than I was."
Carson's eyes sparkled. "I'm afraid ye may be out of luck there, love."
Rodney reached down and offered his hand. "Come on, let's go home."
Carson stood and slid his arms around his lover, pulling him close, feeling the press of Rodney's belly against his own. His son lay nestled inside there-- his healthy, living son-- and the man in his arms was risking so much for this child. He suddenly felt overwhelmed, undeserving. "God, Rodney, I love you so much," he gasped, and then took Rodney's mouth in a lingering kiss.
"Hmmm..." Rodney hummed appreciatively when they finally broke apart. "Maybe you'd like to come back to our apartment and give a more thorough demonstration?"
"Oh, aye, that I would, love. That I would..."

Miko's hair was silky between his fingers as his lips met hers. She instantly surrendered, opening to his probing tongue. She tasted of butter and salt and popcorn and green tea and something vaguely sweet and spicy like ginger.
Her body pressed closer to his, molding to him as if made to fit. He moaned as her belly pressed against his rapidly-growing erection. Damn, it had been too long!
She didn't react, but continued to cling to him, her tongue making its own journey of exploration into his mouth until he was practically seeing stars from oxygen deprivation. They broke apart, gasping.
Her eyes swept down his body, swiftly taking in the bulge in his pants before returning to his face. He gave a shrug and a smile. She answered with her own, warm and understanding, though a blush had crept across her cheeks.
"So... I'll see you tomorrow?" he asked.
"Yes. Tomorrow. Goodnight, Col-- John."
"Goodnight, Miko-san."

"Ah, God!" Carson exclaimed as he pushed into his lover, kissing the back of Rodney's neck as he pulled him closer, till his chest was pressed full against Rodney's back. "Ah, love, what ye do to me..."
"Oh, yeah... Deeper... Take me deeper," Rodney moaned.
"Love you so much," Carson gasped, pushing deeper into Rodney's willing body till he was buried completely. "I love bein' inside you." His hand slid down till it was caressing Rodney's gently rounded belly. "I love that I'm still inside you even when we're apart."
Rodney pressed back against him, picking up his rhythm. "God, yes... You in me... Yours, Carson... Yours."
The words sent liquid heat down Carson's spine and pulsing out his cock into Rodney's body. Rodney groaned and grabbed Carson's hand, pulling it downward to wrap around his erection. Rodney's hand wrapped around Carson's and began stroking, once, twice, three times, and then he was spilling as well, the contractions in his muscles sending shivers of pain/pleasure through Carson as Rodney's body milked him.
When he'd recovered his breath, Carson rolled onto his back and thoughtlessly began licking the come off his hand and fingers, eyes closed, just tasting.
"God!" Rodney exclaimed. Carson opened his eyes to take in wide blue eyes. "If I hadn't already come twice tonight, I would so be all over you right now."
Carson smiled and leaned forward and kissed Rodney, sharing his lover's flavour with him. Then he curled up close. "I love you, Rodney."
Rodney smiled almost shyly. "Love you, too, Carson."
Carson's hand stroked down over Rodney's tummy. "Love you, too, Johnny-boy. Love you, too." He closed his eyes and smiled.
For now, all was right with the world.
