Bought myself a bottle of Balvenie 12 year over the weekend. Actually, Eric and I went in on it together, but it is seriously delicious. I think I might be a newfound convert to scotch from whiskey ( Read more... )

Glenlivit 18
Lagavulin 16
Talisker 12
Bowmore 21 - but only if you're up to spending ~$200.

The $200 bottle of scotch might be a birthday present I buy for myself. I think I'd have a hard time justifying that in the normal course of things.

Nevertheless, I figure if I buy 6 or 7 good bottles, and then have 10-15 people over, I can do the whole thing for about $20/person. Seems like a decent deal...

I think you have to have a Macallan 12 Yr! It's a really smooth scotch, and my favorite. Not it's likely I'll be nearby enough to show up. :)

Not that I'm particularly attatched to our parents' drink, but it amuses me that you're discussing holding scoth tastings. I know the ambivolence you held for wine. I'm interested to hear what makes scotch different.

Me, I'll stick to reds and Reislings.
