Yep, still enjoying the Kanye album, still hate that the previous statement is true. It's misogynistic and vulgar, sure, but the confidence in the sparse electronic noise that he raps over is just admirable. Unlike the previous album which was all about excess, this is pared down, tuned to an emotional response to sound, but never overcomplicated. ( Read more... ) -

Kanye West is so goddamn full of himself that it's infuriating. What's even more frustrating is that he backs that shit up with bold music. If a measure of an artist is how much an expression of themselves their art is, or even that it could not have been produced by anyone else, Kanye fits the bill. That music is arrogant. Heh. I was thinking about my current musical tastes - way in to Meshuggah and Cadence Weapon - and thinking that it's music that is totally repugnant to many listeners.
