I found that a good place to start looking for transmissions used and cheap is to call around to junkyards/salvage yards. I got a replacement tranny for my old car in AZ for 80 bucks...now, true it was the wrong transmission, and I ended up not being able to use it, OR return it, so I had to eat the 80 bucks and ended up selling the car for parts...but that was MY fault, not the junkyards...Hey! Nobody told me that when you're asked if you have a four speed or a five speed transmission, you DON'T count reverse...I just assumed...

Yeah, I think we're headed out to try and pull one on Monday. Hopefully we'll be able to find a salvage yard close that has what we need.

Oh, I know you're not the type to judge, but we both know I would NEVER hear the end of it if I took you up on the other offer. Right now I think I'd be happy just finding a reliable mechanic. ;)
