So the Friday the 13th party turned out rather well. We didn't get a lot of movie watching done, although they were playing all night and we did get to number nine (although I think we skipped one). It seemed like most people took some time to sit down and watch a few scenes, but everyone was busy drinking and socializing.
One of the guests brought "magic muffins" - very tasty. Another brought jello shots. 64 of them in single 2-shot lime-flavored servings. They were all gone before 2 AM. That's 128 shots of vodka we took down (almost 3 bottles worth). Top that with beer and mixed drinks, and I think everyone got really intoxicated. Really looking forward to next Friday the 13th, I think we should make this a habit (paraskevidekatriaphobists everywhere beware!)
Last Wed I turned 26. Nothing too special, although birthdays rarely are. No different than any other holiday, which I don't celebrate either.
pisceskat and
squirrel_queen had other ideas apparently. They had a HUGE bouquet of balloons delivered to my work. I'm not sure which is worse, having to explain to people that is was my birthday (apparently the "Happy Birthday!" written on the balloons wasn't much help), or the fact that I had to explain to several people that they were sent by GIRLS. What's that about? All of a sudden the half the office thinks I'm gay? Anyway, in the end, that didn't matter because my supervisor decided I should get to go home early. At 3PM, I was practically running out the door. I somehow managed to get almost all of the balloons in the trunk of my Mustang (only lost 2 in the process). Jumped in the car, and found out that
Murphy, in all his infinite wisdom, had got a gift for me too. My car wouldn't start. After 90 mins of working on it, I decided that the starter was shot, and it was more than I was willing to deal with that day. Called the roommate and had him pick me up and take me home. I ended up replacing the starter in the parking lot at work the next day. Not a lot of fun, but I do feel like I accomplished something.
In other news, th0d has a new feline roommate. His name is Sid, and he's maybe 12 weeks old. He's still getting settled into the rather large house, but he's already shaping up to be a well behaved cat. Pictures will be posted once I have time to upload them.
