now that it's online, i can say what i REALLY wanted to say...

go watch hatch. (7:38, in quicktime and windows media, r-rated language/content, i'd recommend headphones if you're at work.) go. watch. now now now. then come back. i'll wait.

cool, huh?

okay, now, see, from my perspective, hatch is, at its essence, the perfect allegory for the dot.com experience.
spoilers ahoy -- i'm not kidding, go watch the film first. it's less than eight minutes. it'll be worth it. )

Bahahahahhah!

Damn man, I was going to wait until I got to work to post about it, and then you post it, so I had to now :)

But thanks for all of this...

One note, its cavenessity, unfortunately, cavegirl was taken ;p

oops. corrected. not like i didn't KNOW that...

i was in a hurry myself -- i think i'd have squeaked under the "need to formally call in running late" threshold this morning if i'd not tried to work in an extra bullet point (that i abandoned when it got too wordy) trying to riff on the industrial static ambience, "as if all around you people are listening to skinny puppy and vnv nation and einstürzende neubauten" -- but i cut it out because it started to sound too much like i was picking on hypofixx's soundtrack, which wasn't at all what i meant.

sorry to jump the gun -- once i saw the hatch icons post, and saw that the site was online, i figured an annoucement was either imminent or i'd just missed it.

glad you liked it, though -- feel free to forward or copy, if it suits you (or i can unlock the post if you'd like to point other people to it).

Heh, at least in our heads :)

If you can unlock it, that would be great. I assume you don't mind digex seeing it?

done, and done. http://www.livejournal.com/users/shadowcaptain/359624.html is now unlocked. don't think digex, et. al. would be offended or anything, so, sure. [ducks; covers.]

I scrolled past the spoilers but I haven't seen the movie yet. I even tried downloading it to the hdd and it still sounds like everyone's gargling. Any suggestions? I'm using quicktime.

do any of the trailers (other than the quicktime hd links) at http://www.apple.com/trailers/ work?

if you're loading other things okay, try the windows media link from the same page. if no quicktime thingies are working, it's reinstall time.

i can verify that the quicktime link on the web site loads a valid .mov file; i've played it on two different systems already this morning.

Waiting to see if harry potter works.
In the past when a .mov is all gargly I download it and play it from the hdd and then there's no problem.

Shall see what happens.

Wow.

I read through the "making of" link, too, and was quite amused to see you were docked about 6 minutes walk out my door. Can't believe I didn't notice the ship! Oh, right, that was the Saturday I was at a wedding in the rain. Had I been living at Dad's apartment at the time I'd have seen it out the kitchen window :)

When do you find out the vote results?
