I know exactly what you mean. I live in a small town of about 10000 people in Essex, but the last of my friends there moved out a couple of months back so I don't know anybody. No goths here, nowhere to go. Living close to London (20 or so miles) is the one saving grace. However, I did spot a couple of Goths in nearby Basildon today. Maybe I should've introduced meself...

And yes, the Essex accents are very annoying after a nice break away in North Yorkshire where I didn't feel threatened where I walked!

I assure you, they weren't "just being nice"! You went off on one at Whitby and it was fucking brilliant! Was so very good to see you talking to people and being brave and even - shock! horror! - dancing at the 80s night! [to Vagabonds, I believe [good choice!]].

:)

I'm with him on that one. Getting accross that Spa was no mean feat even in my stompy boots! It was great to see you both and I hope you get your man.;o)

No goths in the immediate vicinity round here (well a 12 mile radius) i live in the back of beyond in Cambridgeshire and aside from my better half our nearest friends are just that 12 miles away :(

Whitby was ace though, yet i don't think i did get to meet you and say hi up there (i think i'd need a neon sign over lj users heads to say "oi i'm here") :\

Methinks people were either... Nice... Polite... or vague and knackered (well by Saturday @ least) :)

"Anyone else feel like their hometown doesn't quite feel right after Whitby? Also, upon meeting new friends and stuff at Whitby, is it just me that feels a bit funny about trying to keep in contact with such people, just incase you bored the living daylights out of them and they were only being nice?"

Yup, I never wanted whitby to end when I enjoyed it...
But you can't live like that can you? they only way the goth community could be like that 24/7 is if everyone moved somewhere all together...
Which I am sure would have its own pitfalls and downfalls...
It is what is and probably best left at that.

I live in a sort of middle-class suburbia on the South-London/Kent divide. I think the closest I've seen to a Goth would be a couple of teenagers in black strappy combats, arm warmers and MM hoodies.
I walk round with multi-coloured hair and big stompy boots getting a totally mixed bag of responses. I'm sure I will cause a car crash one day! Luckily I can pop into London when I don't want to feel like such a freek!
My neighbours humour me and say "You look very bewitching today!!!"

I would just like to add...... Vagabonds rocks!!!!!
