it's peaceful here
in this repose
the sand leaks gently
into one's bones
the steps fell
down the stairs
claiming every footprint
as their own
how many hour glasses
will drink
this sand down?
under the gaze of the sun
coated in haze
the sky will open her eyes
with a blanket of days

she drank a constellation
chewing every star
until her teeth hurt
when she pulled the light
from her mouth
the clouds sank
with the weight of
the colours
dragging behind them
down the stairs
the blind spider fell
with legs tangled
into knots
one appendage for every eye
she bleached their colours dry

she
with the umbarella
doesn't understand the rain
or possibly
she understands it
better than anyone
i wonder how much
water
you can feed an umbarella
when she leaves
the sun will eat her shadow
out of thirst

these ribbons
should be tied
before they leak
i wonder if
they're already undone?
Sleep
she escapes faster than i thought
or maybe she hides
since
she likes to avoid
direct contact
when Restlesness comes to collect
i
loosen my tie
and smile.

Gravity tangled her shoes
but she still knows where to stand
in a tempest of ribbons
and strings that bend
at the bottom of my victrola
is a curtain
slightly raised
she didn't tell me
that i forgot
to tie my shoes today.

she
parted with her feet
like empty weights;
vacant anchors
that tie the world into knots
a dissonant de-convolution
was more than enough
to dilute her spinning
into a pirouette
upon a music box.
