From an email list archive I'm slowly catching up on:
Looks like this group is doing some very interesting work in the area of Progeria (basically these are premature aging diseases), with possible knock-on consequences for (anti-)aging in general...
(
email containing long series of excerpts on relevant papers )

So the delamination of the nuclear membrane might be the cause of the other downstream symptoms but is not the root mechanism of ageing?

If I read the extracts correctly, "wild-type" lamin A is in fact the normal, healthy form of lamin A. Then the above is saying that just introducing good lamin A doesn't offset the deletarious effects of having the badly-processed prelamin A around - it is cleaning that stuff up that reduces the symptoms (nuclear envelope malformation).
Whatever, I doubt this is the root mechanism of ageing - but maybe it is a contributor, in that suppressing this improperly converted prelamin A seems to reduce the prevalence of malformed nuclei, which in turn reduces interference in other gene expression processes and the like, and this is one way in which cumulative cell damage occurs.

I'd be happy to have the details if it is easy enough to do. My primary interest in CR is probably more from the point of view of longevity and anti-aging in general, but it would still be good to have the links in case I ever dive deeper into it.

Despite the second one being a Yahoo group, it's actually very good.
Both lists get a fair amount of traffic, so you might want to create filters for them.
The content on both is excellent - they're not chat groups by any stretch of the imagination.
