As Britain and many other European countries use the word biscuit instead of cookie, I wondered where we acquired it from. It appears to be from the Dutch. You don't think of colonial / growing America having a large Dutch population. Yet, cookie is the diminutive form of cake in Dutch.

Yesterday I made Hungry Girl's Banana Bread recipe. I was excited because it used three bananas where many recipes only call for one. Well, I was disappointed. Besides cleaning, what makes someone a housewife? How do the responsibilities differ from a housekeeper (vs a maid who only cleans; traditional housekeepers have more responsibilities than that.)
