I've been doing completely better moodwise. My new drug, lamictal, took effect. Now I have a couple of new "issues" which don't actually relate to the brain chemical problems of bipolar disorder

I'm glad the girls are doing so well and that you are feeling better. Maybe it's just one of those hunker down in the bunker times. I've felt those myself before. It's a cycle... maybe you'll feel able to take on people again in a bit. *hugs*
I'm sorry you aren't feeling the way you want to be. I've been where you are many, many times. It will pass, I promise you that.
As for female friendships; I can relate to that as well. I've never been very good at them and have never been terribly interested in having LOTS of friends. I much prefer smaller circles of friends and more often than not those that are not connected to one another as a general rule. I really don't have any in my day to day life. I have one real life g/f that I email with a couple times a day usually and then a few online ones that I treasure. That's it. I'm pretty content with that most of the time, but I do miss having someone to have coffee or a drink with and talk to about life.

By "family", do you mean flesh-and-blood (i.e. family of birth) or your social circle (family of choice)? I'd hate to see you retreat into your shell.
