Night before last, we went to a "Sausage Fest" at Phil's place. It was mixed crew of guys and one girl. The guys wanted to go to campus bars, we did not. Campus scares the hell out of me. At Joe's some cover band covered Piano Man without a piano. Before that he sang Tiny Dancer without the cast of Almost Famous

That's really easy. For questions like that, always answer: graduate student. If that doesn't end it, you then say what your bachelor's is in, and then gesture as if it should be obvious from that statement exactly what's going on. If asked "why" about grad school, say that you got an assistantship (cause no one actually pays for graduate school). Then change the subject or leave.

I like your answers. However, it was more this guys tone than anything. I would have responded to him if he had been nice about his question, but said it with this youthful scorn that makes anyone over 21 ancient.
