Aww, poor Gwen! Rhys adores her and she has the baby to look forward to, but the team were also family, family who understand.

*sniffle*

Thanks. This is the first time I've ever actually had an idea for a Gwen fic...But honestly with teh prompt fallout there will be a million Jack drabbles posted...may do a Rhys one later as well...

Thanks. :) Writing Gwen is so different for me...it's never been that I hated Gwen. She's not my favorite but I don't hate her...but I never feel like I have her voice right. But then this was sort of stuck in my head from the time they posted the prompt...

you're welcome, she only really grew on me in S3 (not that I hated her) and I know a lot of people were upset that she hadn't lost as much as Jack or Ianto... I can see their point, but as your drabble said, she lost a lot too and who said life is fair

She did lose too. Not as much as Jack or Ianto but she lost...and yeah, my kneejerk reaction to CoE was that she didn't lose like they did. But that is more about irritation with RTD who kept saying they all lost really big in this season and in comparison she didn't. But that isn't the characters fault, and since I see so much Eve Myles hatred about that..it certainly isn't her fault.

I have moments with gwen...some episodes I just love her...others not so much. Gwen/Jack I really don't like but it's the pairing not her...

I love this, it's so true. *hugs Gwen*
Torchwood was her everyday, her second(?) family (as she spent more time with them than with Rhys). She had a special bond with the members, esp. with Jack. So losing it all and going back to the normal, gray life must be not easy for her - even if she has the baby to look forward to.

Thanks. I agree, Torchwood was it's own kind of family.

Honestly, this little plot bunny surprised me...I avoid writing Gwen...even as a secondary character in fics. Not because I don't like her, as much as my comfort level with writing her. So this was...different for me but the idea wasn't going away.

:) nice bunny :P
Now that you know you can write her that great, don't refuse other plot bunnies including her in the future! Actually I wonder how would you write her if you felt more comfortable with her! :D
Different is good. Challenging and refreshing. Also, writing something you usually don't has a good effect on your writing skills. You discover things you thought you could never do. :)

You already know I think this is swell, but I shall say it again! Brava to you for stepping outside your comfort zone!

Ow. I think you've captured Gwen's thoughts beautifully. Rhys tries to be understanding, but he's a big ol' mother hen. I think Martha is the only other person who could understand.

Great job!

Thanks. And yeah, Martha would be about it for understanding what she does...
