This is the kind of story I find more disturbing than horror... that there were people around that could actually think like this.

This story was partly based on fact. Delphine LaLaurie did do these things and ran away to France when she was exposed. She did want to go back to NOLA to live and it's believed that she did so under an alias. She saw nothing wrong with what she had done and felt no remorse.

I have an odd fascination with her story and I actually want to buy her former home and make it a B&B. LOL

Yeah, I read that in your footer. That's what makes it all the more disturbing!

Do you know if it's haunted? I'd be afraid of it being haunted!

It is said to be. But no one has ever been allowed to investigate it. I have gotten some odd photos of it though when I was there. Everything around the house was in color, but the house was clearly in black and white. I've had that happen more than once. People also tend to cross the street rather than walk past the house. I have seen people do it without even realizing it. And no one stays there.

What a creepy, evil woman. The voice you gave her seemed on target (I read the article you had linked too.)

I noticed a few typos here and there, but not enough to detract from the story.

Thanks! I was at the Apple store all afternoon and had to rush to finish when we got home. I tried to look for typos or misspellings but I was running out of time.

Very well done. I enjoyed it very much. There are many ghost stories about what happened there as a predecessor to experiments on mental patients once doctors like him couldn't use slaves.

If you do any search for 1140 Royal Street New Orleans, LA or for Madame LaLaurie, or Delphine LaLaurie you will find several versions of the story, some say the girl who jumped and died was named Leah but in Delphine's letters home she called her Nina.

It's fascinating. And there are so many different versions. I used all of them and her actual letters to her children to base this on.

Well, she certainly had a twisted set of values. *shudders*

Yes she did. She is considered to have been a sociopath but no one will ever really know.
