Banks dont even try anymore..

I've had my Bank of America MasterCard for years (it has a high enough credit limit to put a decent car on it). I had a transfer balance on it because it was 0% APR on transfers. They told me I can call and negotiate a better rate thereafter (default is a staggering 19%). So I call today and they can't do anything for me..they wouldn't budge on the ( Read more... )

I usually call once a year to re-negotiate my APR. Right now, I don't think they're going to budge because of the bailout and continual economic drop. Conventional wisdom is that when people started losing jobs they began to put everything on credit cards. Soon they won't be able to pay them and the card companies are going to get a gut shot.

Banks are no longer in a position to relax their rules and terms because their money supply is so short. for this reason, i've limited my bank use after having dealt with their credit card programs. i once had a high 700 credit rating, and they were always warm in increasing my credit limits. after one late payment, they hounded me like I was some criminal.

never again.
