I largely agree about Umbrella Academy. I LOVED Klaus, was fascinated by Five, Ben, Pogo, Grace, and The Handler, and have a soft spot for Diego. I think I loved the art direction most, though. The visuals were stunning. MiAmor was very annoyed with parts of it - he though it dragged in places, and he was fed up with the "not communicating for plot purposes" aspect. It was so pretty, I forgave much.
I'm not at all familiar with the comics, although my niece has worked with the author on some comics projects. Do you know them? If so, would you say the show was close to the source material?

I agree with this. Five, in particular, was terrible about not telling people stuff they needed to know- though I suppose you could argue that he was really a 60 year old man and regarded the others as a bunch of kids. Anyway, like you, it wasn't enough to put me off.

I did look them up on Wikipedia once I'd finished the series, and they have deviated from the story in some ways. The orchestra Vanya was playing with at the end was actually an evil orchestra, whose plan was to end the world. There was no Leonard/Harold. It was Vanya's conductor who brought out the real her (the White Violin), and who she killed. Also, Klaus destroys the lump of moon rock and saves the world, and Ben doesn't feature at all. He's just
