Quit being a suck ass. You got good news today and if you don't feel good about it then I'm just going to have to feel good on your behalf while giving you your a taste of your own medicine in the form of a pounding. Hm. Surprisingly violent, no?

It is indeed postdoc season. I didn't want to be the one who brought it up. I had a hell of a time trying to understand what my proposed supervisor meant when--in an email that was supposed to clarify whether she understood I was asking her to supervise me--she said that yes she had understood, and would "be happy to supervise me, in theory." Oh. Right. Umm, what?
Sorry to hear you lost your coat. Those bastards in the archives are notorious thieves and have probably already gone through the pockets, cataloguing the tiniest shreds of lint (well, look what they do for a living).

What was your good news? What was your /bad news? (apologies if the / belonged at the tail end of the good news rather than the head end of the bad; I'd guess it depends which one outweighs the other. Loser gets the /).

And Spoo_k, why would violence be surprising coming from you? Your avatar is a lady gettin' beats with a pan. I'd be thrilled to get a pounding from you if it meant I didn't get a panning.

Hey - where did my comment about spoo's impressive violence go? Aren't I the only one who can edit my damn lj?

I'll share the good news/bad news story live, but not on journal. Did you manage to clarify your proposed sup's ridiculously non-committal response in time? How many more times must we humble ourselves and grovel before giant minds before we get some respite and/or some paeons (sp?) of our very own?

As far as I can tell, it goes on forever.
So we need to be happy about the little bits that we can whenever they occur. Including avoiding a panning.
