Who here is familiar with the curse of The Scottish Play? Yes? No? For those who are not, it is forbidden to utter the word "Macbeth," or to quote any lines from the show inside a theatre. Fortunately, the only other set piece that came up on it from that point forward was a railing, which wasn't essential to the rest of the show, so we just left it. There's a slip-stage that covers the hole when the lift is down, too, so really, the kids probably didn't even notice it wasn't running any more. They'll have to get it back online for tomorrow's shows. I have a feeling everyone will have their hands full--I know Props will. That table was completely thrashed.

I'm very lucky in that I've only ever had minor malfunctions when I've been on stage. We had a trap not open once during Tartuffe because the crew member was not paying attention, but I wasn't personally involved. Nothing like platforms falling out of the sky into the basement.
