So, I can't get a Visa to stay in the USA past when my OPT expires in October.

STOP ACTING LIKE I HAVE TERMINAL CANCER OR SOMETHING.

*hugs* Sympathy for dealing with displaced sympathy. Also, I know you love Boston so I am sorry that you'll have to leave. Anyway, my suggestion is to just let people know that you appreciate their concern, but you'd rather focus on enjoying this time left in Boston as much as you can.

At times like this I compare the USA to New Zealand.

You: "The INS won't let me stay in the country past October."
Friends: "Oh my goodness no! Have you tried applying for such and such?"
You: "Well, I've had an immigration lawyer look through my case, and he's pretty sure I can't stay past October."
Friends: "Oh my goodness I'm going to miss you so much! Have you tried such and such? Oh no! Oh no! OMG! YOU'RE DISAPPEARING FROM EARTH!"
You: "Only from the USA... and not for another 7 months..."
Friends: "OH NO OH NO OH NO OH NO!!!1 Have you done this other thing??!?!!1"
You: http://sharp11.livejournal.com/23789.html

You: "Immigration won't let me stay in New Zealand past October."
Friends: "Oh man... you've looked into all your options?"
You: "Yeah, talked to an immigration lawyer and everything."
Friends: "Well thet's shut."

It's two Australians impersonating "the New Zealand accent", i.e. pasting bits of NZ White Trash, NZ Rural and Maori together, all while occasionally missing the mark and still sounding Australian.
