Has anyone read Absolute Boyfriend? If so:
How many volumes are there?
Is the series finished?
Does it continue to ramble on, or does it every go anywhere?

Has anyone read Blank Slate (someone on LJ recced it, but I can't remember who!)
Does it ever become easy to understand?

Thanks, experts!!

Blank slate is really only two volumes??? Are you sure? I thought I saw more in the book shop...

I'm quite liking A.B. so far. *blushes*

Her boys all kind of look the same though. The ending was SAD!!! It reminded me a bit of one of my favorite books when I was younger. It was about a girl who fell in love with a very human looking (and gorgeous) robot and eventually the factory took him and destroyed him because humans were threatened by their perfection. It was much less silly and very romantic and sad. But the ending of A.B. made me flash back to that book and mad me unhappy!!

I haven't read Absolute Boyfriend (I've skimmed the first chapter or so) but I know it's complete. According to various sources, it's six tankoubon.

I've recced Blank Slate before, although I don't remember reccing it to you specifically. The first chapter is a prologue and doesn't have a lot to do with the plot. It becomes easier to understand in the second volume, although as I recall the general's daughter's motivation remains a little mysterious. Or maybe it's Zen's motivation regarding the general's daughter. I'm not sure.

It was a general rec in a post a while back, so it might have been you. How many volumes are there? Rachel-kun said two, but I could have sworn the store had more than that.

No, there are only two volumes of Blank Slate. Maybe they had more than one of each.

Heh. They did have more than one of each, but I could have sworn I saw more numbers. I was shopping for Absolute boyfriend at the same time though, so I probably mixed them up in my mind.

I tried to read Absolute boyfriend, but got only through the first few chapters. It's stupid, stupid, stupid.

Edit! I was thinking of something else. Absolute Boyfriend was silly, but unoffensive. A robot-boyfriend/magical boyfriend thing. I think it's six books. The awful one I was thinking of was Hot Gimmick. Stay away!

I've read the first two volumes (found 'em at a used book shop for cheeeeeeeap) and was trying to decide whether or not to get the rest. It's fun, but I feel sort of ashamed for enjoying it, you know? But if it is short and I don't have to spend too much money to read all of it, I might go for it and then just re-sell 'em on e-bay.

What is the "gimmick" in "hot gimmick". What shoujou manga do you recommend? There is nothing as good as Ouran, is there? Have you checked out xXxHolic yet? Love it, but don't like the ending.

How can you not like the ending of xxxHolic? It's so... Holic. *froths*

It is DEPRESSING. I wouldn't have minded if Darling Doumeki hadn't had great-grandkids, but the fact that he did means he was with a woman at some point and therefore not Watanuki's OTP. that saddens me. SADDENS. I haven't finished watching the OVAs though. Maybe they are less depressifying.

Your icon is sweet. Is that from the manga or is is fanart? Have you written a D/W fic yet? Why not??? *taps foot*

I read Absolute Boyfriend. 6 volumes, I believe. It does eventually go somewhere, and it's pretty darned cutesy.

I'm embarrassed to admit I'm kind of enjoying it so far (I've read the first two volumes). the main character's mother is younger than I am. *hides head in shame* Oh well. At least I'm not reading (or watching) Twilight.

Lol, it's ok. Everyone has their guilty pleasures. Also, I have to admit, I read the first Twilight book. I decided I had to give it the same fair chance I'd give any fanfiction, and the first chapter was readable.

Hee. I couldn't get through the first chapter. I thought the writing was horrible!! (But I am usually veeeery fussy about my fiction!)

I rec'd you Blank Slate. It's two volumes and explains itself rather nicely by the end of the second volume ;)

Plus Zen is like, super hot and a badass.

Is that icon from Junjou romantica?

In a perfect world Funimation will release that and J.M. Tatum will be Usagi. *sigh*

Yes, that's the second series of Junjou ;) Ha, we both know how good Funimation are at dubbing series 'that don't have the demand'. *snorts sarcastically*

I cannot imagine a dub for Junjou. Seriously. It's just too awesome the way it is!
