That last paragraph sounds like something i used to think about years ago. How far could humanity have advanced if we simply stripped away the bullshit of existing and being "individual" and worked together as a collective whole; i guess another way to say it is the 'hive mentality', except in this case you use the highest common denominator, not the lowest, to advance the species as a whole instead of dragging it down.
