one reason why i feel as if marijuana may not be legalized in the U.S. in the near future is because of the country's dependence on having people being in mentally draining professions like manufacturing for example. if marijuana can make a person lazy, then think of the cascade effect that legalizing it would have on our economy, then our culture, then our military etc.
i don't believe that this country is able to justify passing a law that would have medical and taxable benefits that would help out the citizens at the cost of productivity within the backbone of any great capitalist superpower, the corporation.
although i made these points, i'm always a fan of anything that would help create a cultural revolution within a society that would decrease the effects of human suffering and violence as a whole.
Good argument bro. I just gotta point out that marijuana is indeed addictive though.
One of the reasons that it is illegal is because it was associated with Mexicans in the 1800s, so there's kind of a racist tint to the laws. I forget where I read that, but you should look into it, its pretty interesting.
While I do not see the legalization of marjuana in the near future, I do believe that the benefits of medical marijuana will soon be realized and I hope that we will atleast see a de-criminalization of the substance that will send fewer harmless people to jail while adding revenue to the state coffers in fines collected.
