i'm jealous that you get a fall break! and, having done the whole "why are you angry with me? what did i ever do to youuuu?" thing with various piercings, here is my (piercer-recommended, tried-and-true) advice:
it's quite simple. continue aftercare with the antimicrobial soap (satin? provon?) as normal. you need to do one of two things besides this.
method one: this one requires non-iodized sea salt (sea salt only, no table salt)and hot water. mix 1/4 teaspoon to 8 ounces of very hot water, mix well, soak a cotton ball in it, and hold the cotton ball to your piercing until it starts to feel cool. you can repeat the process as many times as you want, but you should do it at least once a day.
method two: go to a drugstore and purchase something called blairex saline wound wash. it'll be in the first aid aisle. spray it on the piercing whenever you thinkg about it during the day.
yupp, I do all that stuff. Not the spray, but the salt soaks and the provon soap. I always wash twice a day, and try to soak twice a day too but usually it's more like once. I guess I just have a really sensitive ear :(
