There are softer parts of a dog,
Parts easier to access,
Parts that squish, made of silk, full of wiggle,
Parts that defy the laws of gravity,
But the golden standard
Lay in petting a dog’s belly.
The belly rub belies complete trust,
Full disclosure,
No fear, no excuses, no compromises,
No shame, no self-consciousness,
Only utter joy, comfort, and intimacy.
