And I was born in a world that is ending

Restless Heavens Public Document @ Google Docs

I've been adding in more information about each kingdom, and I've been starting to define each character 'type' and also starting into the structures of the government and military.   I did give the Youma Hunters a name, Akuniku - basically, they are like the Shusei in that they are kingdom-less ( Read more... )

I've never seen a quota put in place, but frankly I think it's a great idea (and that 1k per 3 mo is entirely reasonable, if not downright generous). One thing I'm noticing in the games I've joined lately is a dearth of real writing. People will cutely answer a thousand character-building questions in the OOC community and be incredibly active in green room posts, but nobody ever writes a damn thing. A quota might be a good way to nip such behaviour before it becomes a game-killer.

(I am copypasta-ing my comment from DW here, so them what ain't over there can read and opine as well. <3)

AS YOU KNOW (Bob), I am deeply psyched about this game. <3333 Here is my tuppence on fings an' also stuff:

* Akuniku is an AWESOME name for youma hunters. <3

* Limits on Kings and Kirin and the waiting period and delay and activity levels are all very good ideas. Like you said, you don't want people feeling like they missed a shiny, yet if the player count stays fairly low, you don't want to have such important roles sitting vacant. Very good plan, very wise. ^_^

* Max character numbers and rationing of certain character types = also very good and wise planning. I totally agree that with a world this big and epic and diverse, players would have more opportunities for interaction and awesome plot if they had more characters, and six is a nice number. <3 ( ... )

I like the tiers and earning your shiny idea. :D Maybe if you have a king or kirin, you need to post a 1k story every month?

I like akuniku. <3

- I've already discussed this with you, and I think it's a good idea. It definitely addresses the issue of needing 24 players for each kingdom to have a king and kirin, which is a huge amount these days but possible.

- Also good. <3 Six is a reasonable number, and perhaps as the game continues the allowance can be expanded. I'm also thinking of a game that we shall not mention, with people having many shiny characters that everyone was supposed to know every little detail about, but never appeared in stories ( ... )

Here's another thing for you guys to think about re: activity requirements: art, and forum posting. River Twine allows you to submit an art piece as your quarterly activity requirement, in lieu of the 1000k word requirement. So that's something you could set as a basic quarterly quota -- 1000K words OR a finished drawing of some kind.

Forum posting might be a general member requirement too, so you can quickly winnow out the dead weight: Post monthly on the forums, or you will be swept out to sea or eaten by a grue youma and your characters killed. XD

Hmm, possible suggestion for the higher requirements for shinies: maybe 2000K per quarter/2 pieces of art? And be more active on the forums and involved in the plotting?

( I think you mean 1k or 1,000? 1000k would be 1,000,000 words. <3 )

I like the idea of forum post requirements. What do they consider as a finished piece of art?

(*facepalm* Yes, that is exactly what I mean, 1k/1000 words. I has no branes. XD)

Well, they used to have a points systems for art, awarding n points for sketches, n more for partially-finished, n+ more for "masterpieces". But it got so stupid and cumbersome that they decided ANY piece of art, including a sketch, would count. I personally feel that leaves the door open for people to abuse the option and submit a stick-figure drawing, unless you have an art approval process in place (another level of administrative bureaucracy you may not want to deal with). So for RH, maybe consider anything from a partially-finished piece -- like your sketch of Tanpopo -- on up as acceptable?
