You gotta be able to get good wine in Japan. Japan and France share their love of specialized geographical demarcations for everything. Fuck, I bet condoms have an appelation controlee. When I was in Sapporo, I sampled Japanese wine. It was pretty dismal.

There is good wine, although it is often Chilean or Australian. If you want California you have to settle for Mondavi. I personally find it odd that cali wines are so rare. Rossi is actually a step up here as the Suntory and Mercian wines are actually worse.
