Joe has the playwright Joe Orton to thank for his characterisation, who inspired me to write Mr Jenkins as a bit of a laid-back floosie. I've become rather attached to him in the process, and one of my beta's was very keen for him to get Sirius at the end instead of Remus!
I put a lot more thought into the perspectives of all the characters in this fic than I usually do, so it's good to know that this comes across. And I'm really pleased that you thought it was a fresh take on an old theme, rather than another tired re-hash.
Thanks again,
Kate (not of Kintail ;-)

I have two wonderful betas who I'm abusing at the moment, but I'll remember you if they get too busy/fed up with me - thanks for the offer.

(Of course, seeing as how I'm across the pond, it's a rather idle threat.)
Where are you, sweetie?

I found unsure!Sirius to be refreshing. So many stories write him as a sex god. I think Joe summed it up with:
”Well, this is certainly a revelation: the big, bad Sirius Black is really only a pussycat at heart."

So many stories write [Sirius] as a sex god.
I find it hard to justify him as a sex god, because in canon he's described as appearing to be blissfully unaware of all the appreciative glances he gets. So (to my mind) the only other way he could be a sex god at that age is if he and Remus have been busy learning with each other!
Thanks for taking the time to leave feedback; it's always appreciated :-)

The characters were all so well developed and they fit the brief outline that we have of them from canon so well that they seemed completely familiar.
Favorite line:
“No toothpick had been required to remove Snape from Remus’ teeth.”
I really appreciated the homophobia in this story as it is so often not touched on in HP. All too often the Wizarding World is used as some magical excuse for ignoring peoples inherent fear and hatred for what they do not understand. Another interesting aspect I haven’t seen before was Sirius’ inherited discrimination that Remus points out with the great line, “That’s your mother talking.” I really like the idea that Sirius has managed to dispel most of the hatred he has learnt for muggle-borns or half-bloods but would still posses it in areas that he had never of had the chance to dispel ( ... )

I enjoyed playing around with the homophobia, especially the rationalisation of it by Sirius, and I agree with you that it's not touched on enough in HP.
And as for Joe... I think I'll always be fond of him!
Feel free to save the story - thanks for letting me know, btw :-)
