So now they're having Sheldon drop his pants. Ugh.

Of course Leonard would be worried she'd leave him if she got famous.

Not to defend Leonard but she's been there for 10 years.

Raj and Stuart are getting creepier.

Yeah of course Penny would only propose drunk.

Yeah Penny you have Leonard, how wonderful. Oh boy they're reving up Lenny, gag me.

the entire proposal scene was couched as a desperate move on Penny's part.
Leonard had to remind her when she said she had nothing, that she had him. That's when she said "yes thats right, I have you...lets get married."
It wasn't presented as something her drunk sub-conscience mind really wanted, or was romantic.

Completely agree. It was like Penny was hitting rock bottom in more ways than one.

This episode just highlighted how wrong Lenny and Shamy are for each other. Especially the Lenny. Actually, the Shamy wasn't too bad because Amy had a realistic reaction to Sheldon's attempts at humor.

There are so many red flags with Leonard and Penny that it ain't even funny. Leonard is clearly an afterthought for Penny. I didn't mind Leonard that much, even when he said that he did not think that Penny would be successful as a Hollywood actress, because I understood his thought process, but it came out wrong and of course Penny was put off by that.

It was interesting the seriousness of the scene between Leonard and Sheldon at the end. I wonder what Sheldon was thinking during that conversation. That was the most "normal" that I had seen Sheldon (until the "Kick Me" sign).

Bernadette's laugh went too long. Howard's Star Wars audition was awesome, but I wish that that tag had just focused on that rather than Bernadette being all Mrs. Wolowitz Jr.

Blech, my sister and I were both whining about that. It's also annoying that they included that in the promo when there are so many better scenes from that episode to choose from (I've read the taping report).

None of them understand what Penny would be going through as their career choices are so different. As for Bernadette that hadn't ruined hers yet that's why.

Agree on Amy saying that.

The Lorre vanity card was actually pretty interesting. Apparently, there was an actress named Lexie who guest starred on the show, but her part got cut, much like Penny's on NCIS. She was supposed to be in a scene with Raj and Stuart, but her part got cut out because of time constraints. Lorre went on to say that Lexie had nailed the part.

So Lorre can be sensitive when he wants to be? Who knew? ;)

I feel like this was one of the realest episodes in a long time; I connected so well with it, being a struggling actress myself. I remember when I got completely cut from my very first gig on a TV show, just like Penny had, and then even again on my second gig half of my scene got cut. I've come to realize that these things happen all the time in the film industry, but there is nothing quite as depreciating and discouraging. The first thing you think when you find out is 'Oh shit, did I actually really suck?' which explains why Penny's first reaction was reevaluating how well she thought her performance had been. And don't even get me started on Leonard's reaction... I understand that he probably didn't know how to react, but I didn't pick up the slightest hint of sympathy in his tone, and he didn't even go to touch/hold her like a caring boyfriend would. He almost sounded as though he wasn't surprised... which is even further emphasized in the following scene when the truth is revealed that he doesn't really believe in her. Leonard ( ... )

Yeah, I felt like the episode had one idea (the Lenny plot) and then slapped ST:TNG and When Harry Met Sally to it and voila!

For Sheldon, maybe he's smart enough to know that something in his personality has changed over the past two and a half seasons and is trying to figure out what's wrong and how to restore himself? We'll know for sure when he starts tinfoiling the windows and muttering about 'The Powers That Be'...

"We'll know for sure when he starts tinfoiling the windows and muttering about 'The Powers That Be'..."

HAH! This is brilliant! Somebody should write the fanfic!

Speaking of fanfiction, considering the type of character Sheldon is (quirky, eccentric genius), I expected a lot of fanfictions with psychological themes (be it psychological thriller or humor) when I began reading TBBT fanfictions, but I was surprised to find that the majority of the fanfics were focused on romance, which I don't have a problem with at all. Most of the romantic fics are quite well written and enjoyable. But I guess I expected to come across more psychological, mad genius stuff!

I can only speak from personal experience not the field as a whole but for my second one I tried something different and killed off Sheldon (it's a supernatural fic so he sticks around) and Penny went on with Leonard and then Raj and hoo ha I could cover my wall in PMs that expressed everything from anger to sadness to 'this better end up a shenny or *rolls up sleeve ( ... )
